Infratentorial Choroid Plexus Papilloma In A 23-Year-Old Female, Radiologically Mimicking Ependymoma

Introduction:  Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) are mostly world health organization (WHO) grade 1 slow-growing neoplasm neoplasms mostly occurring in the posterior fossa  Objectives: This is a case report of a 23year old female with an infratentorial tumour, with a plastic growth pattern similar to 4th ventricular ependymoma with extension into the left lateral recess. Methods: The patient first presented to the clinical team with features of raised intracranial pressure. She was diagnosed with obstructive hydrocephalus secondary to a posterior fossa tumour and CSF diversion done.  This was followed by an elective surgical resection of the tumour. Results: The patient underwent surgical resection of the tumour and the Histopathology reported a grade 1 choroid plexus tumour. Conclusions: Adult choroid plexus papilloma is a rare benign neoplasm, mostly occurring in the infratentorial region in adults, who present mostly with features of acute raised ICP. Gross total resection of these benign tumours confers long-term survival in this group of patients.
