Microvascular Decompression For Trigeminal Neuralgia
Abstract
Objectives
To review our approach to microvascular decompression for Trigeminal neuralgia; patient selection, surgical methods and outcomes
Methods
A review of a consecutive series of 23 patients operated upon for this condition
Results
The clinical results are presented including pre and post-operative pain scores and complications encountered
Conclusions
In our hands, MVD for trigeminal neuralgia is a safe and effective procedure. The decision to abandon medical treatment for MVD is not clear in every case. Repeat MVD following recurrence is an acceptable procedure with good overall results
